it was a simple news blurb yesterday.
a woman, shopping at a K-Mart here in Mostly Smoggy So. Cal., was approached by one man, offering to sell her a gold bar. another guy came up and said 'oh yeah, it's real, blah, blah, blah...'
they convinced her to go to the bank and withdraw her life savings - $9000.
surprise!! it was a fake.
now - while i feel horrible that this woman lost that much money, i still gotta say: if you're doing your shopping at K-Mart, you shouldn't expect to get a killer deal on gold bars in the parking lot.
just a thought.

in a nutshell.
fun.
i have had fun the last few days.
i just had to go through hell to get it.
let's start with Friday, shall we?
i was supposed to have a half day for vacation. i had planned to go with my mom (at the last minute) to go to the Scrapbook Expo here in the O.C. then, at the last minute, my boss took it away because we were sooooo stinking busy and gave me two hours off instead.
off to the Expo. there's shopping to be done!
my poor mom is walking so poorly lately. i'm really hoping the knee surgery she has scheduled for next month works.
i'm not holding my breath.
Happy Hannah here.
anyways - we did some shopping and got home in time to find that we weren't packed yet.
we packed hurridly.
i forgot my comb AND my brush.
dumbass.
we made it up to my friend's house and Saturday morning we were off to Dumont Dunes. it's about 40 minutes outside of Baker (halfway between LA & Vegas) and there we met up with some of my friend's camping buddies and set up camp.
we ate. they rode quads. we checked out the mall set up there with all the hotties and their fake boobies.
man, that was funny.
almost as funny as Sunday night.
one of our camp members brought a TV and the DVD "The Hills Have Eyes." does it sound scary? oh youbetcha. and funny, too.
funny? because we started tormenting my friend's 15 year old daughter by turning off the power in their trailer, banging on the walls and making scary noises.
it's fun being mean to girls!
then back to reality.
i went back to work to find that the CEO of our company is no longer. i say fired. no one is saying, naturally, but our stock was down to $7.45.
it was $22 last month.
not good.
so it'll be interesting to see how this goes. especially since we're doing a reorganization in my department. i'm OK, but some of the ad designers i work with are going to find themselves in new jobs in and out of our department.
ah, ch-ch-ch-changes.
more to come.
i'm off to make an acrylic album. i might as well have some fun.
happy Monday, kids.
p.s. - i made a new batch of bread pudding tonight. it will have a note on it.
DO NOT TOSS. THIS IS STILL GOOD.

i so do not like Mondays.
especially Mondays that i have to work.
which is pretty much every Monday.
Husband spent all of yesterday doing homework. i did laundry, two loads in the dishwasher, fixed a clock i altered for a friend AND did some shopping, while wondering what i'm getting a friend i work with.
and no, i still have no idea.
Christmas is such a wonderful season. the only time when the world seems united by the feeling of joy, peace and love that always feels palatable this time of year.
it's just the freaking shopping that drives me up a stinking wall.
everyone has people on their list that are hard to buy for. some of my friends are dang near impossible.
and it's not as if she doesn't give hints. oh noooooo.
we can go shopping for someone else (or something else) and she will walk the aisle ooohing and awwwing over stuff she likes. she will ask for gift ideas for you, and then turn around and tell you what she wants as well.
it's a little annoying to me, and i'm not sure why.
i'm trying to get over it. after all, this is the Season of Giving, not the Season of Getting an Ulcer.
although sometimes the two walk hand in hand.
happy shopping.
